Salata, The Next Generation Salad Bar specializing in tossed-to-order salads and salad wraps made from a wide selection of more than 50 fresh ingredients, will open Houston’s 13th location – the first in The Heights community – on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and celebrate the grand opening on Thursday, Oct. 17.Salata

The new restaurant at 185 Heights Blvd. is owned and operated by local franchisees John and Ashley Barneby, who plan to open four Houston-area locations over the next few years.

“We are very excited to bring Salata to the community to which we live,” John Barneby.  “The concept offers fresh, delicious food at affordable prices in a casual setting.  The quality of the food speaks for itself, with everything cooked and chopped in-house the same day it’s served.  We are proud to bring a homegrown Houston-based dining option to our neighborhood – we know once our customers try it, they’ll be back.”

Every Salata features salads and salad wraps that are handmade and tossed for the customer, not by the customer. Rather than pricing by weight, Salata offers an unlimited choice of fresh, healthy ingredients – including lettuces, vegetables, beans, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, house-made dressings, proteins and more – for one set price. In addition to great flavor, Salata’s dressings, soups and marinades are gluten-free.

Committed to high-quality, always-fresh ingredients, Salata also offers value, with salads and wraps averaging between $7-$12, including proteins such as pesto, chipotle or herb-marinated chicken or shrimp, salmon and other seafood offerings. Diners can add freshly prepared soups, breads and desserts to their meal or take home Salata’s house-made dressings, sold by the bottle in each location.

Houston-based Salata was founded in 2005 by local restaurateur Berge Simonian and business partner Tony Kyoumjian. The growing chain now includes 23 locations in Houston, Dallas and Southern California.

“Salata’s success is built on our mission of providing healthy, handmade food for our customers,” said Simonian. “John and Ashley are part of the Houston Heights community, and that makes them a great partner for bringing their neighbors a new, delicious way to eat healthy.”

The 2,100-square-foot restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday business hours are planned for the future.
